Latest Market Update - August 2025

  • At the start of this week, we have seen energy market prices at their lowest point for over 3 months and close to a yearly low point.

  • There has been positivity in the market due to the recent talks that have taken place in the US to look to find a resolution to end the Russia/Ukraine conflict.

  • However, the UK have issued further sanctions on Russia (and reciprocated by Russia). It was thought further sanctions would only be issued if Russia did not proceed with further talks and the UK commented that the US were also due to issue new sanctions. This will have contributed to the small increase witnessed yesterday.

  • Fundamentals around supply, demand and storage remain healthy.

  • Wind generation is due to pick up next week and gas storage continues to increase daily with steady injections

  • Temperatures are forecasted to be around seasonal norms going forward. Wet and windier conditions expected next week.

  • EU gas storage levels are just short of 75%.
